NY is one of the biggest cities in the world, not only for its skyscrapers and most famous buildings but also for its cosmopolitan population and idiosyncrasy. Everybody knows something about New York -we've seen it in hundreds of advertisements and films set there, sport events held there, ... Everybody knows something about its history, its presidents, its transport and streets, its food, ... and even everybody has heard this song by Frank Sinatra some time. If you want to listen to it again, just click below. Hope you enjoy it!

A beautiful song for a beautiful city.
ResponderEliminarI´ve never been there but I would like to.
Two friends of mine went a couple of weeks ago and they really recomended it to me.
The only thing they didn´t like too much was the food... it´s difficult to find out a better food than ours. As we saw in the last class jajaja.
Regarding to the song, I disagree with you, Román. I hope you don't mind.
ResponderEliminarI couldn't listen to the song to the end so I turn the volume down in order to finish watching the video. I don't like Sinatra and I'm so bored with the song. I'm sorry, Sophie.
However, I agree with you, NY is a very interesting city. I've never been there either. In my opinion, the most interesting of NY is its multucuralism but it's a huge city for me, I wouldn't like to live in a place like this but I would like to visit.
In the other hand, I was very surprised the last class a pop-song is about an interesting topic as consumerism because pop-songs lyrics are usually empty or stupid. I didn't know nothing about Shania Twain. However, I've found Shania Twain is not American, She's a Canadian songwriter and she grew up in a working class background. Probably, that explains everything.
I cannot beleive no one recalled songs about money. We recalled several songs as Money by Pink Floyd. How no one could remember the powerful Money for nothing by Dire Straits! It's a sin.
Money for nothing is about consumerism and the music business. It has very interesting lyrics.

And the outraged Career opportunities by The Clash, "The song attacks the political and economic situation in England, citing the lack of jobs available, particularly to youth, and the dreariness and lack of appeal of those that were available. They specifically mention service in the military and police forces in addition to jobs that are often perceived as being 'menial' such as a bus driver or ticket inspector, as well as 'making tea at the BBC'" (Video description quote).
CAREER OPPORTUNITY, THE ONE THAT NEVER KNOCKS!
